The toll charges stopped at one minute past midnight on 11th February 2008. FATBUG is a group that exists to monitor traffic flow across the Forth and Tay Road bridges now the tolls have gone. Comparisons with the tolled traffic situation will be made by asking bridge users for there opinion and with reference to official traffic counts. Already there is evidence that slightly more vehicles are using the bridges but this does not necessarily add to congestion if the positive effect of lifting the tolls improves the flow and accommodates more traffic. There has been some congestion on both bridges. Some say it is due to an increase in vehicle numbers and others that it is road works and high winds. The job of  FATBUG is to guage these views and to suggest any possible improvements to the bridges’ management.
